Welcome to the neighborhood an “Athleisure” boutique in the DC area – Dick’s Sporting Goods launches ‘Chelsea Collective’ a women’s specialty store fusing fitness and street fashion! Last weekend, August 8, I was invited by Nike Women to attend the official Grand Opening of Chelsea Collective in the Tysons Corner Mall – The first two Chelsea Collective locations will be in Tysons Corner, VA., and in Pittsburgh, at Ross Park Mall, which will open within next few weeks. The store had several events leading up to Saturday’s grand opening – Tuesday they had a private viewing which had special guest, Ali Kriegerfrom United States Women’s National Soccer Team and she currently plays for the Washington Spirit of the National Women’s Soccer League! Friday, Nike Women had a Concierge service which included a 30 minute training, nutrition and styling 1:1’s with top experts; on Saturday the Grand Opening – as well the Nike Women NTC (Nike Training Club) event – NTC HIT was from 10:30 am – 11:30 am on the Tysons Plaza at Tysons Corner Center Mall (photos below).
The store’s space design was inspired by the Chelsea neighbor of New York City; I spoke briefly with Dave Shappee, Regional Vice President at Dick’s Sporting Goods about it – the loft-like space with white brick walls, expose metal fixtures really gives you that cool feel without being overly trendy of the NYC vibe! And in the back of the store there is a “Refresh” station/bar where customers can received complimentary services like alterations, bra fittings, gait analysis, and light refreshments.
The stores will offer a local ambassador program as well – focusing on women in their local fitness community and building partnerships with the community.
The stores will carry staple sportswear brands like Under Armour, Nike, Asics, and New Balance, and more specialized brands like Splendid, Birkenstock, Havaianas, and UGG Australia and exclusive Calia by Carrie Underwood line.
I shared the day with my good friend, Foreverfit4u, a Personal Trainer – Figure Athlete and as you can see we had a blast in the store – plus we entered the Chelsea Collective contest for a chance to win $100 gift card by tweeting a photo inside of the store using the #Sweepstakes #ChelseaCollective 🙂 (photo below we are both in Nike Tech Fleece) *fingers crossed
